Meal Prep And Bulk Cooking

I always inform my clients to the benefits of bulk cooking mainly for the sake of convenience but also to control their diet and help avoid panic food choices. For instance, you get home and your ravenously hungry but you have nothing ready to eat and you end up eating a loaf of bread just to kill the hunger!

Bulk cooking is basically cooking many portions of your chosen meal for the benefit of saving time and effort. I personally started bulk cooking many years ago when I realised, with my busy schedule/lifestyle and with the amount of food that I consume daily, that I simply don’t have the time to spend standing over a cooker every time I need to eat and im sure im not alone! So cooking many portions at one time means you can eat your portion there and then but you also have many portions to store in tupper ware or even freeze, ready to be conveniently microwaved/reheated the next time you need healthy balanced meal.

Just a little effort will make a big difference in your meal prep time and you can be confident in the knowledge that you have some quality nutrition waiting at home that takes only minutes to prepare, hugely reducing the risk of making bad foods choices such as ordering a take-away on the way home etc.

Another benefit of having many portions of food prepared ahead of time is the convenience of being able to bring the food with you to work if you know your going to have a long day at the office (or in my case the Gym, I pretty much live there!) which again, also reduces the risk of eating junk food.

Here are some examples of food that cooks and stores well in bulk.....

- Beef Bolognese

- Chicken Stir-Fry

- Beef Chilli (my favourite)

- Beef Stew

- Chicken Salad/Veg

If you need Carbs with your food (where and when allowed as part of your nutritional plan) they can be added later via Wholemeal Bread or microwave rice. Quick and simple. Try doing some of your bulk cooking on a quite day when you have some time like a Sunday, your more likely to start the week off the right way if you have two days of healthy meals cooked in advance.

So try implementing bulk cooking into your lifestyle and im sure you will be very happy with the results.
